A very uncommon banquet lamp that was likely made around the time of the Civil War. I base my dating on the stylized base and stem. I refer you to Thuro's Vol. 1, pp. 162, 161,126,110, & 86; also Vol. 2, pp. 83, 74, 66, 64, 60, 59, 58, 49, 48; Vol. 3 pp. 37, 97. It is likely this lamp was made by either Boston & Sandwich or Atterbury &Co.; It is sturdy and elegant, and has some stressing in the brass connector, but is otherwise pristine. The original collar is a No. 3 size and is fitted with a new soild brass Queen Ann burner, and wick. The dent that is pictured in the top of the collar does not prevent smooth threading of the burner. This handsome lamp shows the influence of British glass makers in the form of the translucent font. Note: The font might be more accurately described as custard rather than clambroth, but the quality is evident from the photographs. Price = $139.00 - including U.S. shipping, insurance and the burner.
