ELLIPSE WITH THUMBPRINT OIL LAMP
An original footed finger lamp (also called hand lamp) known as the "Ellipse with Thumbprint" or "Thumbprint
Ellipses" made in the 1880's in the U.S, It shows evidence of having been made in a five part mold and has a graceful and sturdy handle. The lamp is pictured and described in Thuro's Vol. II on page
103. The solid brass collar is original to the lamp. The solid brass #01 size Queen Ann burner and the hand made Czech crimp top chimney are new. There are no cracks, chips or fleabites; in perfect condition (the handles on old
lamps often show tension lines or cracks. This one does not). These footed finger lamps were designed to be carried about from room to room - and out to the privy. Often they rested on a sideboard
in the kitchen or dining room. I charge only the actual shipping cost (of your preference), to any destination worldwide.
