FOOTED & DATED 1870's FINGER OIL LAMP
A ingenious hand blown lamp of the 1870's, patented by George Lomax. The glass
lip that encircles the top of the globe shaped oil font prevented any spilled kerosene from reaching the foot and staining the finish of a table when filling the lamp. From his glassworks in
Summerville MA, he sold a variety of styles of this sturdy and popular lamp called "Oil Guard" lamps, but now commonly known to collectors as Lomax lamps. They were easily carried from
room to room, out to the privy, and up to the bed rooms. Included is a solid brass #0 size Queen Ann burner with wick, and a new crimp top chimney hand made in the Czech Republic.
