A high quality glass oil lamp made in the 1860-75 period. The base is a rectangular opal glass' the font is excellent hand blown flint glass of the prismatic pattern known as "Petal and Rib." It is in complete working condition with a replacement solid brass #2 burner and shade holder, wick, chimney and ruby optic ball shade with solid brass top ring.

This stunning banquet lamp has survived almost unscathed from the Civil War era (there are tiny abrasion chips on the bottom of the opal glass base). I rented this lamp for use in Novmeber 2009 as an authentic Victorian scene prop for the Robert Redford movie production of "The Conspirator." This film depicts the role of Mary Surrat, one of those who planned the assassination of Lincoln. She was the first woman executed in the U.S.

This lamp is pictured in the Catherine Thuro Vol 1. on page 164. The lamp, without the burner, chimney, and shade was valued at $200 in 2001. This type of oil lamp was purchased by wealthy homeowners of the time and displayed prominently during formal dinners - thus the name banquet lamp.

Complete lamp as shown, TOTAL: $250.00 - The shipping cost is extra, based solely on your location. I do not charge for packing materials or handling.
